Descriptif
The course, New Technologies and the Sharing Economy, aims to describe and analyze the functioning of the sharing economy and its underlying technologies.
The course includes case studies of peer-to-peer platforms in sectors like short-term housing (e.g., Airbnb) and for-hire transportation (e.g., Uber). We also integrate economic theory models and empirical analyses to explore topics such as platform markets, trust mechanisms, pricing algorithms, labor market impacts, and regulation.
Regarding assessment, the course relies on continuous assessment rather than a final exam. Students are evaluated based on individual contributions, including:
- A 15-minute presentation based on a case study.
- A short report (four pages) and a presentation on an academic article, with a focus on critical analysis.
