PA - C8 - PHY651O : Supersymmetry

Domaine > Physique.

Descriptif

Lecturers: Henri Bachacou, Mark Goodsell

This course consists of a series of lectures on supersymmetry, divided equally between a theoretical and a phenomenological and experimental part.

ECTS credits: 3

1) Theoretical basis of supersymmetry

-Motivation for supersymmetry

-The SUSY algebra

-Superfields and superspace

-Supersymmetry breaking

-The MSSM

-SUSY and the Higgs sector

-Non-minimal, split and high-scale SUSY

-SUSY as a tool: superconformal field theories and Seiberg dualities; the simplest field theory (if time allows)

2) Phenomenology at the LHC

The phenomenological and experimental part of the course will focus on the LHC, with emphasis on the latest perspective given by the (non)observations of Supersymmetry during the first few years of LHC running.

- Review of the LHC detectors technology and reconstruction techniques relevant for Supersymmetry searches.

- Phenomenology of the MSSM at the LHC

- Search for third-generation sparticles

- Search for Dark Matter

- Precision measurements (Bs to mumu, etc...)

- Phenomenology of R-parity violating, split/compressed SUSY, and long-lived particles
