Descriptif
LAN471ALL ALL Advanced German Period 1 and 2
The advanced courses in periods 1 and 2 are not aimed at bilingual or fluent students, but at students who can understand what they read or hear without major difficulty, and express themselves with relative ease on topics of general interest. They have spent varying periods of time in a German-speaking country and are able to take part in a conversation without difficulty.
Advanced level students can be awarded Goethe-Institut C1 or C2 certificates at the end of period 2 or 6.
Objectifs pédagogiques
The main aim of the courses in periods 1 and 2 is to enable students to use the language more effectively and flexibly in social and professional life, and to equip them for courses or research placements at German universities and other German institutions. By the end of the course, students will be able to summarize information from a variety of written and spoken sources, and to reproduce arguments and explanations coherently, using appropriate means of articulation. In complex subjects, they must be able to explain nuances of meaning. They will be able to take part in debates, express their point of view clearly and react in a complex way to what their interlocutors have to say. They should be able to give presentations without remaining tied to their notes, and comment on current events.
