Descriptif

Covering a wide range of periods this class will analyse how artistic practices have negotiated their place within British and American cultures. We will focus on various political and ethical controversies and disputes that have surrounded artistic productions throughout history. The aim of this course is two-fold : to develop analytical skills applied to various works of art (painting, architecture etc.) as well as to broaden the students' knowledge of the historical contexts in which these works were created.
