Descriptif

Have you ever thought about why crime is committed and by whom? Have you ever questioned the prison system and asked yourself if rehabilitation might be a more effective solution.  Let’s take a look at different types of crime and the relationship between crime and punishment.  Let’s discuss how crime is dealt with in other cultures.  Is there a place in today’s world for arms, and is the death penalty ever an appropriate response?  Crime engages us to think outside the box and question our own personal values.  It provokes debates and discussions.

The course will help you to expand your English vocabulary, use of phrasal verbs, idioms and collocations that enable you to speak more fluently and naturally, whilst  also improving your style in writing.  You will be encouraged to participate orally in order to express your ideas and opinions.  You will be asked to research a particular aspect of crime or punishment and present it to the group.  We will be watching Ted Talks, series, reading newspaper articles and listening to podcasts and the news to follow on-going cases.

Practice your English skills in a friendly and supportive environment where you can be corrected constructively to gain confidence in your abilities.
