Descriptif
During this course, we will study the relationships between chemical composition, structure and functional properties in solids, more specifically in iono-covalent oxides. Indeed, these materials play a central role in high technology fields such as optics, microelectronics, nuclear power, conversion and storage of energy, aeronautics, and many devices involving high working temperature.
After a introduction to perfect crystalline solids (metals, semi-conductors, oxides), we will study the peculiarities of crystalline structures and defects in oxides. These aspects will be related to physical/chemical properties: electrical properties, transport, absorption, magnetism, catalysis. We will also present the main synthesis routes of oxides materials and main techniques used to characterise the structural and functional properties.
